A Chef in a Pandemic Makes “A Simple Gesture”

Kao Soi Al Fresco

How does a chef begin their day? Typically, they are in a rush and already have utensils in their hands when they walk through the door. Most agree that, life is a hustle as a chef. So what happens when they tell you that you can’t hustle anymore? Well, you find a new way to hustle. The Pandemic brought so many things to a halt. It created a giant divide among many people and tons of inequity. But in times like these we strive to do the best we can.

An Idea: A Simple Gesture

At the heart of any chef is a passion for making food for others. When people are feeling defeated and scared, they tend to focus on their eating habits. Chef Kyle wanted to create something special. With cost being an issue, it seemed like a perfect time to give back to Sonoma. When we were thinking of a name to call it, I asked him, What is it? Kyle quickly said, It’s a simple gesture among friends and family. Lightbulb…

Pay it Forward with a simple gesture

In 2020, Chef Kyle created a food program designed to bring his short list of guests a meal every week, straight from his heart, to their homes. Every purchase included a second full meal package to share with a friend in need. But something struck, the people LOVED it. They referred him, it grew. He and his team hand-delivered every meal from our place to theirs. Looking back, this project brought so much enjoyment and set the right tone among Sonoma’s community members. Thank you for participating!
